A VISTA Farewell

Written by guest blogger Kendal B. One of our great AmeriCorps VISTAs.

I have one week left of my VISTA year. Could that possibly be right? It seems like it has gone so fast!

Looking back, I’ve had a year full of amazing new experiences and learning opportunities. From Day of Caring to Sub for Santa, Summer of Service to working on mentoring, tutoring and reading initiatives, this year has been jam-packed with exciting projects-projects that have stretched and challenged me, but also rewarded me with new knowledge, connections and passion.

But if I could say only one thing about serving at United Way, it would be how much I love the people I work with. It is truly a pleasure to go to work each day knowing that I will be among good, kind, dedicated people who work hard to make our community a better place. Since the beginning, I have always felt at home at United Way because I am surrounded by people who care about me and about making a difference in Utah County. It’s a pretty rewarding place to be!

My VISTA year with United Way of Utah County will always be an experience I treasure. I am certain that the things I’ve learned will help me as I go forward in life, wherever it may lead. And as I go, I just want to say thank you to all those who have made my life a little better each day. Your friendship and support have meant the world to me. Because of your examples, I can honestly say that I know what it means to LIVE UNITED!
