Global Youth Service Day
Way of Utah County, youth from across the county were invited to participate in Global Youth Service Day 2009. This is an annual global event organized by Youth Service America and the Global Youth Action Network as well as numerous international organizations and coordinating committees. It is the largest annual celebration of young volunteers with millions of youth in over 100 countries carrying out thousands of community improvement projects. Project Times and Sites
When: Friday, April 24, 3-5pm
Where: Independence High School, 636 N. Independence Ave, Provo
Students from Independence High School invite you to come lend a hand of service in beautifying their school grounds and a nearby park. They will provide root beer floats for all participating volunteers following the clean-up.
When: Saturday, April 25, 10am-12pm
Where: Springville Arts Park, 700 S. 1300 E. (Behind Springville High School)
Join students from Merit College Preparatory Academy in their “Helping Homes with Many Hands” project. Meet at the park to receive service assignments: beautifying homes/yards of elderly community members, painting and clean-up at local Baptist church, and Arts Park maintenance. Students will provide baked goods to participating volunteers.

Where: Timpanogos High School, 1450 N. 200 E. Orem…and Orem Rec Center, 580 W. 165 S. Orem
Timpanogos High School students from the PAC Service Club and Latinos in Action (LIA) invite you to join them in a community clean-up effort. They will be meeting at the school’s main entrance at 2pm then going to the Orem Rec Center to begin the clean-up project. Timpanogos students will be providing refreshments to all participating volunteers.

Where: Dixon Middle School, 750 W. 200 N. Provo
Community Action and Centro Hispano are hosting “Dia De Los Niños,” an exciting event for Hispanic families in the community. Students from Spanish Fork High School and many others will be organizing games, activities and booths to provide fun for families that evening. The goal is to teach parents and their children new games and activities that are wholesome, free, fun and helpful in strengthening family relationships. Come early and help out at one of the stations. It is not required that volunteers speak Spanish.
