Christmas in March?

Most families don't even want to hear that word before October, but for the most inexpensive and meaningful gifts, the time is now. For some, weeks and even months go by with unfruitful searches for that gift for the one "who has everything. United Way of Utah County wishes to bring hope to those who will be searching for the perfect holiday gift this coming season.

Some would agree that the most poignant thing about the holidays were acts of kindness, traditions, and memories rather than gifts. If your loved ones value those things, it's time to gear up to give the most memorable holiday gift ever given.

United Way of Utah County presents giving gifts of honor through serving others in the name of a loved one who has taught values of service and selflessness. For example, one can volunteer in the community, document their experience, and give it to someone as a gift. It could be in the form of a journal, scrapbook, electronic slide presentation, video, and more. The more creative, the more personal it is for your recipient. As much or as little preparation can go into this gift, and as many or few projects can be completed.  You can even choose opportunities that reflect an area that is of importance to your recipient like children, cancer treatment, disabilities, abuse prevention, etc.

For help in finding volunteer opportunities, search our database or simply dial 211 to speak with a Volunteer Specialist between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday.  Time is money, and the time spent putting this gift together will show more than a price tag.

People feel loved when they are given material things, but they are honored when they are shown how their life has touched others through someone they have influenced for good.
