How does a family qualify for Sub for Santa?
The purpose of the Sub for Santa program is to provide basic gifts for children between 18 months and 14 years of age (older children may qualify if they have younger siblings). In order to be considered for Sub for Santa, a family must have at least one child between these ages. Numerous eligibility factors will be taken into consideration including income and expenses, individual disabilities and other unusual circumstances.

How do I apply?
Call 356-6200 to listen to a recorded message that will explain the details of the program, and what you need to bring with you to the workshop. There is a lot of information, so be ready to take notes so you can be prepared. Applications are only distributed at Sub for Santa workshops. Don’t delay! The program closes in early December.

What happens at the workshops?
Volunteer instructors will teach self-sufficiency skills and share ideas about establishing no-cost Christmas traditions. You will complete the application and turn it in at the workshop. No children are allowed at the workshops. Please arrange for a babysitter ahead of time.

What do I need to bring to apply?

  1. Picture ID of yourself.
  2. ID for all children for whom you are applying. This can be the original or certified copies of birth certificates, baptismal papers, or school ID. Whatever you bring must show a date of birth.
  3. Income Verification:  You must bring verifiable proof of how you meet your current obligations such as your last two current pay stubs or a letter from your employer stating your monthly income. If you are on State Assistance, you must obtain a current CAP II and financial printout from your caseworker. If you are receiving other assistance such as Medicaid, housing, or help from your church, etc., you must bring proof of that.
  4. Proof of current address - a bill or lease agreement.
  5. Children’s Information:  Come prepared to report your children’s birth dates, clothing sizes, shoe sizes, and the items they need most for Christmas.
