On November 10, United Way of Utah County Women in Philanthropy held its first annual fundraiser to raise money for women and children’s causes in Utah County. The women gathered to kick up their heels and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere of Talon’s Cove in Saratoga Springs.

The evening started out with a chance to mingle and bid on silent auction items. Then the 130 people in attendance gathered for a video presentation. This was a great opportunity to experience the theme for the evening, “in her shoes.” The audience learned about how women, who are first time mothers, receive help through United Way’s Welcome Baby program. We also saw an example of another program that United Way works with to help women who have children with developmental concerns.

As the evening progressed the guests were able to take part in a high energy auction. All together for the evening, United Way of Utah County Women in Philanthropy was able to raise over $40,000 to help women and children succeed in Utah County. Debbi Myers said "The gala was so much fun to be a part of.  The dinner was absolutely superb!  The auction was a real hit!  I enjoyed it and am sure everyone else there did as well."

This evening was an instance of United Way of Utah County Women in Philanthropy celebrating the energy and generosity of women. Those who attended were able to see how United Way of Utah County is giving women a greater voice about educating and encouraging women to create change through leadership and a commitment to and relationship with United Way of Utah County.

“The Gala was a fabulous event, one my husband and I will look forward to attending each year.  The food was amazing!  I will always remember the chocolate shoe filled with mousse and fruit.  From the decorations to the waiters to the items up for auction it was a first class event,” said Susan Griffith.

We would like to extend a special thanks to those who served on the committees and really did make this evening a success! We look forward to this celebration next year.
