Fellowships & Sponsorships
Health Issues Fellow . . . . . . . . .
. . $18,000
The health issues fellow serves as United Way’s expert on
health-related issues in the community. The fellow conducts extensive
research on local health issues and is familiar with available local
health resources, such as medical care for the uninsured, prenatal
care, hospice care and life skills training for individuals with
disabilities. The fellow facilitates the use of these resources
by working with members of the community (on the phone or in person)
and guiding them to the best available resource for their specific
needs.
Additionally, the fellow is responsible for coordinating health-related
volunteer opportunities by maintaining an extensive database and
working with community volunteers, either on an individual basis
or with large group projects. The health issues fellow also serves
as United Way’s health representative to the community, participating
in other community counsels and attending community meetings. The
fellowship extends for one calendar year.
Children’s Focus Fellow . . . . .
. . . $18,000
The children’s focus fellow is United Way’s expert on
resources available to provide children with a positive future,
including services for early childhood development, child abuse
prevention, crisis childcare and other early intervention services.
Through extensive research, the fellow understands that individual
child development is improved when basic needs are provided for
and is connected with resources to not only ensure that children’s
basic needs are met, but that they also have opportunities to learn
and excel. The fellow works with community members to guide them
to the best available resources and to coordinate volunteer opportunities
to ensure the success of children in our community. The children’s
focus fellow also serves as United Way’s representative to
the community, participating in other community counsels and attending
community meetings. The fellowship extends for one calendar year.
Hispanic Outreach Fellow . . . . . . $18,000
The Hispanic outreach fellow serves as an ambassador between United
Way and the Hispanic members of our community. The fellow is fluent
in Spanish and is able to recognize the unique assets, qualities
and needs of our Hispanic neighbors. The Hispanic outreach fellow
is knowledgeable regarding resources available specific to the needs
of the Hispanic community and works to create an even greater involvement
of Hispanic volunteers, establishing a stronger connection between
them and the community. The fellow also coordinates group projects,
helps translate materials into Spanish and coordinates with the
Spanish-speaking volunteers in the Welcome Baby program. The Hispanic
outreach fellow serves as United Way’s representative to the
community on Hispanic issues by serving on community counsels and
attending community meetings. The fellowship extends for one calendar
year.
Welcome Baby Fellow . . . . . . . . . $18,000
The Welcome Baby fellow heads up United Way’s Welcome Baby
program, a course consisting of a series of volunteer home visits
to new parents. The visits are designed to help the parents become
more comfortable with their new role and offer educational information
about infants and toddlers. The fellow coordinates volunteer training,
material updates and efforts to increase community awareness of
the program. The fellowship extends for one calendar year.
Community Youth Fellow . . . . . . $18,000
The community youth fellow is United Way’s specialist in leading
and facilitating volunteer youth involvement in schools and neighborhoods
by training high school and college students on the principles of
service. The fellow heads the Utah County Youth Service Council,
which meets regularly in an effort to gain greater perspectives
on effective service activities while they are trained to be service
leaders within their schools and among their peers. The fellow works
to connect youth to the community by developing and promoting youth
service activities and coordinating monthly service projects at
local agencies and among youth organizations. In addition, the fellow
coordinates the participation of Utah County youth in community
teams, the Utah Youth Summit and regularly scheduled group service
events, such as National Youth Service Day, Make a Difference Day
and Take Pride in Utah Day. The fellowship extends for one calendar
year.
Sub for Santa Sponsorship . . . . . . $42,000
The Sub for Santa sponsorship allows a corporate sponsor to provide
funding for all facets of the Sub for Santa program. The sponsorship
covers personnel, supplies and equipment necessary to ensure an
enjoyable Christmas for more than 2,000 Utah County families. The
Sub for Santa personnel pair families or individuals willing to
give with families or individuals in need to provide gifts of clothing,
toys and books for Utah County children. The temporary assistance
program also fosters self-sufficiency for families through time
and money management counseling. The corporate sponsor’s name
is attached to every Sub for Santa branded piece and is recognized
in all materials regarding the program.
Interns/Education Awards
Community Assessment Intern . . . $3,000
The community assessment intern is essential in determining the
major issues affecting Utah County residents and evaluating United
Way’s role in addressing those issues. Every four years, a
survey is conducted among a random sample of community members.
The community assessment intern works to interpret the data collected
from the surveys and determine how the data relates to United Way’s
initiatives in the community. Based on this information and evaluation,
United Way is able to establish its goals and update its strategies.
The internship will run in accordance with the academic calendar.
Public Relations Intern . . . . . . . .
. . $3,000
The public relations intern supports the communications department
at United Way. The intern helps increase awareness of United Way,
its programs and its impact on the community among potential donors
and volunteers. The public relations intern also coordinates with
the communications director on the creation and production of campaign
material. The intern is highly trained in communications and is
an invaluable asset to the organization. The internship will run
in accordance with the academic calendar.
Agency Public Relations Intern . . . $3,000
The agency public relations intern directs communication efforts
for United Way’s partner agencies. The intern helps increase
awareness of the agencies among potential donors and volunteers,
the agencies’ programs and their impact on the community.
The agency public relations intern also coordinates on the creation
and production of any necessary materials. The intern is highly
trained in communications and is an invaluable asset to the organization.
The internship will run in accordance with the academic calendar.
Graphic Design Intern . . . . . . . . .
. $3,000
The graphic design intern provides design expertise and support
for United Way on the production of its materials. Additionally,
the intern provides graphic design support to United Way’s
partner agencies as needed. The internship will run in accordance
with the academic calendar.
