Employee Education

Communication and trust skills classes to improve workplace relations and company performance are offered by the Family Support and Treatment Center in Utah County.

Drug awareness and testing programs: The Gathering Place has a number of prevention and treatment programs, including presentations on drug use and awareness in Utah County, as well as testing programs that can help your employees who struggle with substance abuse. The Gathering Place is a non-profit agency that helps treat and prevent substance abuse through education and counseling.

First Aid, CPR & Emergency Preparedness Workshops: These workshops are offered by our local American Red Cross at your worksite. They allow your employees to become certified in First Aid and CPR, and learn how to respond in times of disaster or emergency.

Home Buyer Class: Community Action Services offers classes on home buyer education, mortgage default, guidance and tips on locating affordable housing, and local housing programs. These classes can be taught at your company site fostering stability and permanence in your workplace.

Parents Who Care: Help your employees strengthen family relationships with this four-class program that can be taught at your workplace. Offered by the Boys and Girls Club of Utah County, this program teaches parents how to talk to their kids.

Read to Succeed: Sends tutors to your company to provide tutoring in basic literacy skills for adults. Read to Succeed also gives informational presentations about literacy to company groups.

Volunteerism

Corporate Group Volunteer Projects: Everything from corporate food drives to Sub For Santa can be coordinated for your company through the United Way Volunteer Center. The Volunteer Center has year-round projects that will help your company foster improved company morale and dedication to building our community.

United Way Day of Caring: More than 500 volunteers from local companies will meet at Lavell Edwards Stadium one morning in September for a pancake breakfast, followed by a morning of service projects. Interact with other companies through various service projects at multiple nonprofit agencies.

United Way 211: The nation’s first telephone-based information and referral service that connects people who want to help or need help with opportunities in their area. United Way 211 is an easy, free and confidential resource for you and your employees to address critical issues in our communities.

Gifts-In-Kind: GIK’s mission is to meet basic nonprofit non-financial requests by linking them with goods and services donated by the corporate sector. Product contributions are a great way to assist organizations in directing more of their budgetary dollars to client services. Examples of needed donations include office equipment and supplies, computers and printers, entertainment coupons and tickets, new toys and books.

Visit www.unitedwayuc.org: The United Way of Utah County Web site is an invaluable resource to learn about volunteer opportunities, how to get help, and what is happening in our community. It also contains all the information your United Way Coordinator needs to run a successful United Way campaign.

Community Resource Directory: The comprehensive directory of resources for getting and giving help in Utah County. Indexed by agency names and service categories for ease of use by service providers, service recipients, volunteers, human resource departments and your company.

Support Groups/Classes, Youth Resources, and Community Resources brochures are great resources for your Human Resource Department and your United Way Coordinator. They offer a quick and easy way to access health and human service organizations in Utah Valley.

Monthly Volunteer Opportunity Newsletters: Whether it is an Eagle Scout Project or a company community service day, this newsletter provides current projects needed in our community.

Corporate Recognition

United Way salutes the top United Way community partners for all their work. Our annual Thank You Breakfast provides public recognition to outstanding organizations involved on a year-round basis with United Way through donation of goods, dollar contributions, services and employee volunteer time.

Company Involvement: United Way of Utah County wants to recognize those companies who take an active part improving lives in our comminutes. We do this through press releases, awards, United Way materials and our Web site.
