About Crisis Line

Description

The Utah County Crisis Line is a listening agency and referral service for people of all ages who have problems of almost any nature.

Mission Statement

The purpose of the Utah County Crisis Line is to be a listening agency and referral service for people of all ages who have problems of almost any nature. It is not designed to solve problems, but rather to help the callers find solutions to their problems through personal and community resources.

Services

  • Emotional support through 24-hour confidential phone calls
  • Intervention and diffusion of general crisis and suicide situations
  • A variety of community-based resources and information to callers

Area of Service

The Crisis Line serves all cities and towns in Utah County . Our mission is accomplished with the help of a trained volunteer staff representing communities throughout Orem and Provo . Our volunteers direct callers to organizations within the community to help aid them in finding long-term solutions. A primary goal of the Crisis Line is to reduce suicide and domestic violence within the community.

Financial Support

For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2002 , the Crisis Line received approximately 50 percent of its funding from Provo/Orem City grants, 45 percent from the United Way , and approximately 5 percent from individual donations and contributions. Revenues and support sum to approximately $37,000 for the fiscal year.

Volunteers

  • Must make a four-month commitment to serve three hours each week and one overnight shift.
  • 50-60 volunteers are needed each semester
