Did you know that a child will start to imitate his parents HOURS after birth? Imitation is a building block for successful brain development. Through imitation children learn how to move, speak and feel empathy for others. Makes me think twice about what I say or do around my nieces and nephews and what they’re exposed to.
Watch this great video of a TWO-YEAR-OLD RAPPING.
How do you think he learned that? Exposure to his family members who are in a musical group. It’s so cute and really incredible that he’s picked up on the groove as well as he has! Children are powerful natural learners and can learn even more when the individuals in their life take a moment to teach them, or read to them or ask the child’s thoughts and feelings.
With United Way of Utah County’s recent initiative called EveryDay Learners, we hope that everyone can learn to be a good example for individuals of all ages. You can read to/with children, volunteer to tutor or help mentor someone around you who can use a little boost. Call for more information…who knows, you could mentor an aspiring rapper!
