My 7 Tips for Work Life Balance

I have thought a lot about balancing work and personal life lately. I recently read an article comparing this balance to an ongoing quest of acceptable compromise, a level of give and take that satisfies our needs. After some thought of how I personally can gain balance in my life, I came up with the following tips that I would like to implement. Perhaps you may be interested.
- Sleep. Don’t sacrifice sleep. This is when your body recuperates and heals from the hard day’s work.
- Decide what is really important to you. Deliberately plan activities around what matters to you.
- Say no to unnecessary activities. If you are like me, I have a hard time saying no. If an activity doesn’t excite you or revolve around what is important to you, perhaps you should consider cutting it out.
- Make time for you. Have fun and relax.
- Prioritize Your To-Do List. Decide what needs to get done today and what things can wait for tomorrow. Often I try to cram everything into today when some things could easily wait without any significant impact.
- Schedule “Unscheduled time”. Don’t make plans for every night. Allow yourself time to reflect on life and reevaluate your priorities.
- Keep your life uncluttered. From those extra papers laying around on your desk to your overly complicated social life. Take time to organize your work space and your home. There is a sense of relief that comes from a clean and organized office and house. Your personal life can also collect clutter. Once again, focus on the most important relationships in your life and don’t try to do everything.
Let me know if you have any other tips that you want to share in creating balance in our lives!
